3 sessions of Boot Camp in a row

mon/tue/wed doing boot camp this week......but now I have the weekend to recover
and celebrate the New Year with my friend Suzanne and her dog Baxter.

I have to complete a CPR/first aid course for Woman Toursto satisfy my duties as SAG driver
on this cross country tour.

I do have another concern about this trip and its the room mate rotation we have each night.
I am fine with doing that, its just that I hope to find someone who doesn't wear scented
products so I won't have a reaction. I have to keep a positive attitude about it and hope
that I have considerate room mates.

Happy New Year to all......and may this coming year be filled with love and gratitude
and good times

back to training

OMG! its been 2 weeks since that head cold took me down and then it turned into bronchitis.
I just got out of the gym where I did a 45 min workout on the rowing machine and some elliptical
thingee. Tomorrow I start back on the Boot Camp regime.

I'm concerned about losing this much time and having so little time now. I have been reading an account of this Southern Tier route written by a woman who completed the ride recently with this same company WomanTours. She calls it "Conquering the Borderlands" One thing I had not considered was the heat......who knew riding through the dessert in the winter would be HOT? I'm still in Oregon where we hardly see the sun and if it does appear
one better get out because it won't last long.

So now I see that the heat may also be a challenge for me......Looks like I may be riding in the
SAG vehicle and taking pictures on some of those hot days........hehe

bummer I have a cold!

Last week, I had a great week of training.......I did all indoor stuff. Boot Camp is hard and I get good
results from the hard output and I also started a spin class.
the weather last week was in the teens I must have picked up some bugs at the gym
or just getting myself all in a sweat and then chilling down put me in bed for a couple days.
Seems like most of the woman on this upcoming tour will be training indoors except one lucky
gal in Arizona, she is actually on her bike

more to consider

I now have a kick ass routine for getting in condition. I have signed up at a local gym....... now
I'm doing spin class 2 times a week and Boot Camp 3 times a week, alone with some hiking and stretching plus I have my bike in a trainer. And I'm really sore today

Its way too cold......12 degrees, so I won't be even consider cycling outdoors

Logistically the trip is a nightmare.....there are many details on my end to take care of.
Like how to get my bike to San Diego, and then how to get it home from Florida.....yes, its possible to ship it or even take it on the train, its all about safety of the bike and expense
and then there's the extra motel nights, trip insurance and bike insurance, take a CPR/First Aid class, find someone to pay my bills, get the money together to pay 4 months rent in advance, have someone stay in my trailer once in awhile so it doesn't fall apart while I'm gone.....
and it goes one, but so do I
oh and I got on the scale at the gym....I won't tell you what I weigh but I will let you know if I lose anything! hehe

ohoh

I made a huge miscalculation. I don't know where I heard that we would ride 60 miles each
day. I must have been thinking of the self supported trip that takes 3 months.

Had I considered how far in the time we had I would know differently and now I do.
The shocker is that out of all those days (48 total ride days) 16 of them require us to ride over 70 miles a day and there are
some 80-90-100 milers......OMG! We will have 8 no ride days and I still have my drive days
to rest up on.......I'm nervous about it but I still move forward

Get it together and ride ride ride, work out and eat right

dreaming of riding cross country

This Feb I will be 60 years old. I wanted to celebrate it with an unforgettable
experience. As MJ would say "This is it"

After 30 years of considering a long cycling trip, I signed up for a 2 month tour starting Mar 4 in San Diego and
arriving in St Augustine, Florida on April 30.

This is a women's tour with most of us being 50-60 years old. I will go as a Sag Driver and be able to ride 3 days and drive 1 day.....so I have a built
in rest schedule. We ride 60 miles a day 6 days a week with 1 day off each week. It looks like I will have an extra day not riding each week and that is just fine with me, plus I received
a 40% discount by working part time.
